Flumin’ Kohala offers a unique and exclusive adventure deep in the historically rich and verdant mountains of Kohala. There you will explore the much storied Kohala Ditch, a 114 year old system of hand-wrought tunnels, elevated flumes, and concrete channels that once supplied millions of gallons of fresh water to the vast sugar cane plantations of Kohala. On a leisurely kayak float through 3 miles of the system, you will have the rare opportunity to access lush private lands, streams, waterfalls and other natural and man-made wonders kapu (forbidden) to all except guests of Flumin’ Kohala.

Location: 55-517 Hāwī Road, in the quaint plantation village of Hāwī (pronounced “ha-vee”).
Daily Tour Times: 8 am, 9 am, 12:15 pm, & 1:15 pm
Check In Time: 15 min. prior to tour time.
Tour Duration: Approx. 2.5-3 hours, from departure to return
Prices: Adult (age 12 & up): $135; Child (ages 5 to 11): $75
Rated: Easy (4wd van ride, short level hike, leisurely kayak float)
Gear Provided: Personal flotation device, rain poncho (for rainy days) & light snack (upon returning to headquarters)
Requirements:
    • Must be able to walk over uneven ground and sit for at least one hour in an upright position without back support. This tour is not for those with back or neck problems, expectant mothers, or those fearful of dark, confined places, nature, learning, getting wet, or good fun.
    • Must be at least 5 years old
    • Weigh no more than 300 lbs.
    • All guests will have their temperatures taken upon check-in.
    • Any person with a temperature of 100.4ºf or greater will be denied participation in the tour.
    • Any person exhibiting a fever, cough, sneezing, difficulty breathing, or any other symptom indicating possible infection with COVID19, will be denied participation in the tour.
    • Any group or family(s) associated with any person being denied participation in the tour due to exhibiting COVID19 symptoms will also be denied participation in the tour.
    • There will be NO REFUNDS issued for any individual and groups/families denied participation due to the preceding COVID19 requirements. Instead, guests will receive a rain check that can be redeemed at a later date.
    • It is REQUIRED that you bring and wear a face mask throughout the check-in process and throughout the tour. NO FACE MASK, NO SERVICE!

What to Bring & Wear:
You will get wet. Comfortable, water tolerant walking shoes or reef walkers (absolutely NO slippers or flip flops). Wear clothing that can get wet (you will get wet). Bring a towel and a change of dry clothing. A light jacket is recommended (did we mention that you will get wet?).

ALL GUESTS are responsible for their own COVID-19 personal protection equipment (masks, gloves, hand sanitizers, etc). Failure to be prepared with this critical COVID-19 personal protective gear will result in your being denied participation on the tour.
